About Peter
J. Peter Mortimer is a long-time contributor and the former picture editor of Arizona Highways Magazine. He has also served Arizona Highways as a book editor and book designer. Since 1990 Peter has taught Arizona Highways Photography Workshops to participants from around the world.
As an award winning photographer, his pictures have appeared in many of the world's most popular newspapers and magazines including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Forbes, and Time. For several years he worked on special projects for the senior layout and graphics editor at National Geographic Magazine in Washington, D.C.
Peter was represented by Gamma-Liaison Photo Agency in New York and Paris for many years, and is now affiliated with Getty Images.
With a Bachelors Degree and post-graduate studies in Journalism and tele-communications, Peter has supervised and taught the photojournalism curriculum at Arizona State University. Additionally, for 14 years he was Director of Photography for the Summer Media Workshop at the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri.
